The new rate system is in place within the city affecting thousands of people who practice the use of public transport as their means of commuting. Deck rates will be hiked and local commuting will cost more than before thanks to raising charges per kilometer.
The officials of the transport department allege that the move was informed by the operational difficulties of those who are working as drivers during inflation. The news has come with a mixed feeling, though drivers rejoiced at the move many residents feared that they were not about to afford. All the vehicles operators have been requested to put new fare charts and comply by the administration. The enforcement teams will undertake regular inspection to curb overcharging.
