Heavy Rain Brings Relief to Chandigarh Heat, But Roads Left Waterlogged

A 33-mm precipitation, which happened on Sunday, was a welcome treat to the heat affected people of Chandigarh since a long time. The rain made temperatures to drop considerably thus showing reprieve after a few days of extreme humidity and high temperatures. But the change of weather also indicated that the city had bad drainage system since several parts remained under several feet of water.

In the recently updated news, the major roads in the various sectors such as 22, 17 or 43 were fully flooded, thus blocking roads and causing a lot of inconvenience to the commuters. Several residents went to the social media to post images of submerged roads and implore the municipality to do something as soon as possible. With rain, the weather became cooler but what brought into fore was that there is a dire need of improved rainwater management in Chandigarh to prevent such relentless monsoon-related issues.
